Karen is a Lecturer in Public Health who teaches across the School of Health Sciences and within the Institute for Global Health and Development. Karen teaches undergraduate and postgraduate programmes both on campus and online.  

Karen is a Registered General Nurse, has a BSc (Hons) Health Studies from the University of North London, an MA in Health Promotion from Brighton University, along with an MPH and a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice from the University of Auckland.

Prior to joining ¹ú²úÂÒÂ× in 2019, Karen was a Senior Lecturer in Health Promotion at Unitec Institute of Technology, Auckland, and was coordinator of the drug and alcohol curriculum within the MBChB programme at the University of Auckland.

With a passion for tertiary wellbeing, Karen is a member of the advisory group of the national Healthy Universities Network; she facilitates the Scottish Healthy Universities Group and is a member of ¹ú²úÂÒÂ×’s Health and Safety committee. 

Karen is a Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and reviews fellowship applications across the School of Health Sciences.
