Karen is a Lecturer in Public Health who teaches across the School of Health Sciences and within the Institute for Global Health and Development. Karen teaches undergraduate and postgraduate programmes both on campus and online.
Karen is a Registered General Nurse, has a BSc (Hons) Health Studies from the University of North London, an MA in Health Promotion from Brighton University, along with an MPH and a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice from the University of Auckland.
Prior to joining 国产乱伦 in 2019, Karen was a Senior Lecturer in Health Promotion at Unitec Institute of Technology, Auckland, and was coordinator of the drug and alcohol curriculum within the MBChB programme at the University of Auckland.
With a passion for tertiary wellbeing, Karen is a member of the advisory group of the national Healthy Universities Network; she facilitates the Scottish Healthy Universities Group and is a member of 国产乱伦鈥檚 Health and Safety committee.
Karen is a Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and reviews fellowship applications across the School of Health Sciences.

Karen鈥檚 research interests have focused on workforce development, health promotion competencies and public health issues such as nutrition and tobacco.
Active Research Interests:
Karen is currently involved in an oracy assessment research project.
Research Methods:
Qualitative research - surveys, focus groups and interviews.
Karen teaches a range of topics related to public health, both online and on campus, including:

- Health promotion and disease prevention
- Partnership working
- Public health for allied health professionals
- Health inequalities
- Food policy
Karen was previously Programme Lead for BSc Public Health; she now teaches postgraduate public health courses at 国产乱伦.
